Horseback Riding Lessons
Lessons at K4 are designed for riders of all ages and experience levels who want a safe, supportive place to learn and grow. Riders can work on everything from basic horsemanship and confidence building to more specific goals like jumping or preparing to lease or purchase a horse.
- Ages 5 and up, with most riders in the 7 to 16 range
- All skill levels welcome, from true beginners to experienced riders
- School horses available, or ride your own horse if appropriate
- IEA team coaching and group lessons for IEA riders

Who Lessons Are For
Lessons are available for beginners through experienced riders. Nervous, returning, or rusty riders are encouraged. Lessons progress at a comfortable pace with a focus on confidence and clear communication with the horse.
Ages and experience
- Typical age range is 7 to 16
- Minimum age is 5 for beginners who are ready to listen and follow directions
- All skill levels welcome

Lesson Types and Pricing
Private lessons
- $60 per lesson
- 45 minutes, often running up to an hour as needed
Group lessons (IEA)
- $50 per rider for a one hour session
- Currently offered for IEA team members only

What to expect in the first months
Lessons focus on solid basics first. Many new riders spend the first 1 to 3 months developing balance, steering, and learning to post the trot before moving to more advanced work.
Payment and waiver
Payment options include cash, check, Apple Pay, and Venmo. A signed waiver is required for all riders before the first lesson.
Horses, Gear, and Safety
Horses and tack
- Riders may use well trained school horses provided by K4
- Riders may ride their own horse if appropriate for the program
- K4 provides the necessary tack and equipment for the horse
Helmet and clothing requirements
- ASTM/SEI riding helmets are required for every rider, every ride
- Loaner helmets are available for riders who do not yet have one
- Bring water, boots with a heel, and long pants
Riders must bring
- Water
- Boots with a heel, such as cowboy boots or paddock boots
- Long pants: jeans or riding breeches only
Not allowed while riding
- Leggings
- Shorts or other short pants
- Tennis shoes or any shoe without a defined heel

Scheduling and weather
- Lesson times are scheduled directly with the trainer
- No evening weekday spots are available
- Limited spots are available Saturday afternoon and Sunday
- Plenty of availability during weekday mornings
- Lessons may be rescheduled in dangerous weather, riders will be contacted
